Ausper's mobile app​

UI UX Design


Project overview

Ausper, derived from "Auspicious" and "Prosper," is a unique B2C gold-tech platform dedicated 
to revolutionizing the gold-buying experience. 
A platform dedicated to empowering women to celebrate, save, and invest in gold for themselves. 
The mobile app serves as a secure gateway for women to save, invest, purchase, and gift gold, 
catering to their individual preferences and financial goals.

Business challenge 

The objective was to create a secure and intuitive mobile app exclusively for women, 
offering pre-defined plans,​​ personalized savings options, and a user-friendly platform for 
gold investment and gifting. 
With four distinct products - Ausper Me, Ausper Sense, Ausper Luv, and Ausper App Integration
- the app aimed to encourage women to prioritize their financial security and personal 
ownership through gold investment.

My role

As the lead UX/UI designer for the Ausper mobile app project, collaborated closely 
with two other designers, co-founders, and the development team to design Ausper's mobile app, 
focusing on Ausper Me and Ausper Luv. Ensured alignment with project objectives and user needs, 
contributing to an intuitive and engaging user experience that empowers women in gold investment.

Target audience

Designed with Indian women in mind, Ausper recognizes the emotional importance of gold 
in Indian culture. By partnering with leading jewelry brands, the app ensures 
accessibility and convenience for users across tier 2 to tier 3 cities in India.

Design pain points addressed

The design overhaul addressed key pain points, focusing on creating a holistic user experience 
from onboarding to investment. Essential financial functionalities were integrated, including 
buy-now-pay-later (BNPL) options, wallet top-up features, gift card integration, systematic 
investment plans (SIPs), and payment reminders. The warm and approachable design departed 
from intimidating financial interfaces, catering to the target audience's preferences.

Ausper, while primarily a fin-tech app, simplifies the gold purchasing process by focusing on 
user convenience. The team deliberately chose a warm and approachable design, departing 
from an intimidating financial interface (that I have explained you in my 
Ausper Website case study). This decision was made considering their target audience: 
women from tier 2 to tier 3 cities in India.


Process

After gathering the business requirements, the team came up with an approach to create 
a secure and intuitive design for the app.


Market research

Conducted comprehensive market research to gain insights into customer needs, identifying 
market gaps, assess competition, and understand prevailing trends. 
This informed the overall strategy for the app. 


Identifying Target Audience 

Defined the demographic characteristics of the target audience, considering factors such as 
age range, income level, education, and geographic location.


Competitive Analysis

Analyzed existing gold saving scheme apps and other fin tech products to understand their 
features, pricing structures, and user experiences. This exercise identified areas for 
differentiation and improvement, guiding the development of unique selling points for the 
app. Competitors assessed included Multipl, Hubble, and Tortoise.


Legal Compliance

Ensured adherence to relevant laws and regulations governing financial apps to mitigate 
legal risks and build trust among users.


Wireframe Design

Created wireframes to outline the structure and layout of the app's interface, focusing 
on functionality and user flow.


Visual Design & Prototyping

Developed visual designs for all final screens of the app, incorporating elements that 
convey trust and security, thus creating an engaging user experience. Additionally, prototyping 
was created to provide stakeholders with a convenient way to review the actual flow. 

A bit about AUSPER ME

Ausper Me: Pay Now, Buy Later Program

Ausper Me is a unique feature within the Ausper mobile app designed to empower users to save and invest in gold through a "Pay Now, Buy Later" program. The concept revolves around building a corpus for future purchases of gold, providing users with the flexibility to invest gradually over a specified tenure and ultimately redeem their savings for gold.

How Ausper Me works:

Investment Tenure: Users can select a tenure for their investment, typically spanning several months. During this period, users contribute regular installments towards their gold savings goal.

Accumulation of Savings: Each installment contributed by the user accumulates over the investment tenure, gradually building a corpus for future gold purchases.

Ausper's Contribution: At the end of the investment tenure, Ausper steps in to make the final installment payment on behalf of the user. This additional contribution from Ausper serves as a bonus or incentive, boosting the user's accumulated savings for gold purchase.

Redeeming Savings for Gold: With the full corpus accumulated, users have the option to redeem their savings for gold at Ausper's partner jewelers. The accumulated savings, along with Ausper's contribution, enable users to purchase gold jewelry or products of their choice without the need for immediate payment.

A bit about AUSPER LUV

Ausper Luv: Gift gold anytime, anywhere!

Ausper LUV, powered by Visa, offers a revolutionary way to gift gold seamlessly and conveniently. With this pre-loaded Visa-powered gift card, users can bestow the timeless gift of gold to their loved ones, with the flexibility to choose from a wide range of jewelry brands across India.

  • Gift of Gold for All Occasions: Ausper LUV allows users to gift gold to anyone, anytime, and anywhere, making it perfect for birthdays, weddings, festivals, and other special occasions.

  • Affordable Gifting: Users can gift gold for as low as Rs. 2000, making it accessible to a wide range of budgets. This affordability ensures that users can express their love and appreciation through the precious gift of gold without financial constraints.

  • Freedom of Choice: Recipients have the freedom to choose from their favorite jewelry brands when redeeming their gift card.

How Ausper LUV works:

  1. Users can purchase the Ausper LUV gift card and send it directly to the recipient via email, SMS, or other digital channels.

  2. Alternatively, users can opt for a wallet-to-wallet transfer if the recipient is also a registered member of Ausper.

  3. Recipients can then visit any jewelry store across India and redeem the gifted amount by swiping the card in-store or through the Ausper app.

  4. This streamlined process ensures that recipients can enjoy their gifted gold with ease and convenience, further enhancing the joy of gifting with Ausper LUV.​

Having finalized the IA after a few iterations, we drafted wireframes while considering all 
pain points for users. We also ensured a very smooth and simple onboarding process, 
followed with a highly intuitive and visually rich User Interfaces.

Outcome



The Ausper website and mobile apps have been successfully launched in the market 
and are experiencing steady growth. Available on both the Google Play Store and 
Apple App Store, Ausper is reaching a wide audience of users eager to realize their 
golden dreams. Through strategic partnerships with numerous jewelers across India, 
Ausper is serving women from all regions, making the process of saving, investing, 
and redeeming gold accessible and user-friendly. The app simplifies complex processes, 
allowing users to seamlessly invest, save, redeem, and gift gold with ease. Ausper has 
received a positive response in the Google Play Store and Apple App Store, with 
favorable ratings and reviews from satisfied users. We anticipate continued success 
as Ausper continues to evolve and meet the needs of its growing community.
